Visiting
- What should I bring to class?
- For your first class, just wear comfortable athletic clothes and a good attitude! No need to purchase any gear to get started.
- Do you have showers?
- Yes, we have both men's and women's showers available.
- Can I show up late?
- Yes, you are the customer. Life happens, traffic happens, etc. Training time is ultimately for you. However if you are late, please go back and refer to the instruction recording after class or ask someone what you missed during open mat so you don't cut into others training time.
Pricing & Membership
- What's included in the membership?
- Our standard membership includes access to all classes on our schedule. Train as much as you want! You're also given access to our private online learning platform, where you can watch classes and training sessions from previous weeks, ask questions and get video answers, and more. Additionally, you are able to access the gym outside of our scheduled hours for self-directed training with other Grapplers. Note that a minimum 4 members required to access for self-directed training.
- Are there other fees?
- For members, a Focus Fit membership is required. This is the commercial gym we are located inside of. Focus Fit membership is $30/month, paid separately to Focus Fit. You don't need to worry about this for your first class or drop-in visits. Outside of that, there are absolutely no other fees whatsoever. No forced gear purchases, no setup fees, no cancellation fees — nothing.
- Do you offer contracts?
- No, our memberships are month-to-month with no long-term contracts required. If you don't find value in our gym, we don't want to take your money.
General Questions
- What is jiu jitsu / submission grappling?
- Jiu jitsu is a martial art focused on grappling and ground fighting. It emphasizes technique and leverage over strength, making it effective for practitioners of all sizes. At Grapple, we specifically focus on submission grappling, which is the art of controlling an opponent without striking, using techniques like throws, pins, and submissions to achieve victory.
- Do I need to be in shape to start?
- No! You can start training at any fitness level. Our classes are designed to help you progress at your own pace while gradually building strength and endurance.
- Is grappling safe to practice?
- Yes, grappling is very safe when practiced properly. Our instructors emphasize proper technique and safety, and we maintain a controlled training environment.
- How often should I train?
- As a beginner, we recommend training 2-3 times per week. This allows adequate time for recovery while maintaining consistent progress.
- Are there opportunities to compete?
- Yes! We have a competitive team that trains and competes in local and regional tournaments. We also host our own tournaments from time to time.
